2022 has been such a blessing for me in the realm of doing artwork. And that’s saying a lot because at the beginning of this year I barely did any artwork at all.

We are now on to completed sketchbook #6. And this one wasn’t even a partially-finished one. I filled this sketchbook from cover-to-cover in a month’s time, from mid-October through mid-November.

I was able to accomplish this for a couple of reasons. #1: This is a small sketchbook, so I wasn’t having to spend lots of time filling large pages. #2: This sketchbook allowed for both wet and dry media, which meant I got to play with lots of mediums instead of being confined to only ink, like in my Leuchtturm1917.

I did a little bit of everything in this sketchbook, from ink, to watercolor, colored pencil, water-soluble graphite, and even a little bit of gouache. Almost everything in this sketchbook was illustrated from life via observational drawing. There’s a couple exceptions in there where I worked from photographs, or just imagination. My fountain pens got a lot of love in this sketchbook, too. That’s probably another reason I filled this so fast because I’ve been having so much fun playing with my fountain pens.

If you want to know more about what it’s like to work in an Arteza sketchbook, check out my recently posted review.

I’m going to be honest here, as winter starts to really set in, I find myself starting to worry that I’m running out of inspiring things to illustrate. Summer and autumn tend to be my most creative seasons, I think. But I’m determined to persevere and keep up with my daily drawing habit. Even if that means I subject my followers on Instagram to yet another illustration from my living room, or of my cat, or of my art supples!

What sketchbook am I working in next? Currently I’m working in a Hahnemühle Nostalgie sketchbook. The jury’s still out on whether or not I like it. I have mixed feelings about its paper. As always, however, I plan to work through the entire thing with different mediums and techniques before I make any final decisions on how I feel about it. Since it’s a new-to-me sketchbook, too, I’ll provide a review when I’m finished filling it.

For watercolor sketchbooks, I’m still working in my A5 Etchr Perfect Sketchbook and my Koval Sketchilla Sketchbook.

Enough reading. Time to watch! Get comfy and enjoy the flip-through below. I’ve also included some photos of some of my favorite pieces from this sketchbook below the video embed.

Remember, if you see any artwork you like, check my Redbubble shop as I’ve been uploading prints from this sketchbook there for sale.
